Edmonton to Jasper

I wanted to go riding and decided to take a long route to Jasper, spend the night and head back to Edmonton the next day. I headed east out of Edmonton on Stony Plain Road, south on Hwy 60, the then east on Hwy 39 towards Drayton Valley. Then it was Hwy 620 towards Lodgepole and gas.
I continued on Hwy 620 and saw a solitary wolf crossing the road just before reaching Elk River Road; and then on to the Forestry Trunk Road south towards Nordegg and lunch. I jumped on Hwy 11 towards Abraham Lake, which is a beautiful glacier-fed lake with an emerald sheen to its waters. Before long, I reach Hwy 93 (the Icefields Parkway) and head north towards Jasper. The mountains are majestic, and the upper elevations are still getting snow on a regular basis, and glistening white. I stayed at the Maligne Lodge in Jasper, and eat dinner and watch hockey at the Buckles Saloon.
The next morning, I'm heading back to Edmonton on Hwy 16 through Jasper National Park. I'm always staying alert for the abundance of wildlife through here (today mostly elk and deer). Just before Hinton, I turn south on Hwy 40 to break up the tedium of expressway riding, and it eventually turns into the gravel forestry trunk road. I take it past Cadomin, and then turn back northeast on Hwy 47 towards Robb and Edson. In Edson, I'm back on the Hwy 16 for the ride back into Edmonton. I had a great and enjoyable ride of about 670 miles!
