2009 Husaberg 570 Rally Bike
In 2013, at the age of 57, I decided to race the 2013 NORRA Mexican 1000, a 4-day navigational off-road rally that races the entire Baja peninsula from Mexicali (in the north) to San Jose del Cabo (in the south). I found a 2009 Husaberg 570 for sale in Arizona for a good price and decided to buy it and convert it to a full Rally Raid race bike.
Converting to a Rally Raid race bike involved adding front and rear Safari tanks (for additional fuel capacity), rally faring system, low rally exhaust system, electronic roadbook and ICO odometer (for navigation), suspension modifications, rally skid plate, and a whole lot more! I was extremely pleased to convince Les Martin (M-Power in Boulder City, NV) to become my race mechanic to take care of the conversion - it's a long and tedious process. Les, with help from his sons Chris and Chad, changed a rather stock Husaberg 570 into a world-class Rally Raid race bike.

The bike passes Tech Inspection and is ready to race the NORRA 2013 Mexican 1000!
I raced the Husaberg Rally bike from 2013 to 2015. Here it is in action at the 2013 Mexican 500, where I placed 1st in class and 3rd overall.
